RIP Curse of the Bambino: 1919-2004 |
|
BOSTON - The Curse of the Bambino, one of the ugliest curses in sports, has died. It was 85.
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in game 7 of the World Series, 5-4, on Manny Ramirez's 2-out, 3-2-count grand slam in the Bottom of the ninth.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
RIP, Curse. Steinbrenner will miss you, but we won't! ;-)

4. I don't know what's funnier.. |
|
1. The idea that the Red Sox will make it to the World Series.
2. The idea that the Dodgers will make it to the World Series.
or..
3. The idea that the Red Sox, a team with a $125 million payroll, deserves any sympathy for being "cursed."

6. You had me until the Dodgers were mentioned |
|
The Dodgers might be worse than my Tigers this year. They won't be doing anything in the post-season.

10. Don't start celebrating yet! |
|
If I had a dollar for every sports team that started singing praises this early in the season. :(
Hey, you've got a LONG season ahead. And who knows what might happen. Hopefully, the Sox will avoid injuries, etc.

13. Boston NEEDS the curse of the Bambino |
|
The day after Boston wins the World Series, if that ever happens, Bostonians will be as giddy. But then what? Boston's whole reason for existence will be over. It'll just be another town.

I love Boston. But its true - Boston's raison d'etre is its baseball team's losing streak.

|
This weekend's series notwithstanding:
The Red Sox have a rivalry with the Yankees like a nail has a rivalry with a hammer
