Ih8thegop's weekly look at the baseball season
Edited on Sun Apr-18-04 01:04 PM by ih8thegop
AL

East: Okay, so the Curse isn't dead yet (despite what I said in the other thread :-)). But the Orioles and BoSox are tied!

Central: My Tigers have been tied for, or have outright held, the division lead for the entire season. Sorry, Twins and ChiSox, not this year.

West: the A's barely lead the Angels. Meanwhile, the Mariners, considered good contenders for the crown in 2001, have taken the place of my Tigers down below. How's the weather down there in Seattle? Rain?

Wild card: Very unclear at this moment. Chicago, Detroit, and Minnesota all tie for the best record in the AL (with the A's), and they're all in the same division.

NL

East: The Marlins, the first Wild Card team in a while to win a World Series, actually have a good shot at making it in by virtue of a division championship. They hold a two-game lead over Ted Turner's dynasty. Meanwhile, Expos? Do you even exist anymore? Just kidding, the season's young.

Central: The division is very tight, with the last-place Brewers just two and a half games behind division leader Houston. Go Cubs!

West: The Dodgers have a solid division lead.

Wild Card: The Reds lead the Wild Card race, with the Pirates, Braves, and Cubbies not far behind.

------------------------------------------------------------

Do NOT take with a grain of salt; take it with a pound of salt. The season's young. The Expos could win it all.

2. The Dodgers are for real this year.
Great bull-pen, and those guy's can score some runs. They did good by getting Milton Bradley. Ah well, maybe my Pads can climb out of the celler this year.:bounce:

7. 151? youre expecting them to clinch on the final day of the season
Personally coming from a fan of a team who hasnt made it to the playoffs in a while, I say good luck. My goal for my birds is the same this year as always, at least 80 wins and third place, however Lee Mazzili and co is giving me more so far, 90 wins and second or first place :).

11. Orioles vs. Tigers - ALDS. Tigers would win it hands down.

East: The Marlins, the first Wild Card team in a while to win a World Series

The Angels were the Wild Card team when they won the World Series the previous season :P

10. The 1997 Marlins were the first
Not the 2003 Marlins. Though it is unusual to have a team that had their only two world championships rest on the relatively new concept of the wildcard.

9. The Marlins look strong
I hope they can keep it up. We knew they didn't have that strong (if any) chance to get a second WC in a row. But if they give those other NL East teams a run for their money and possibly make the playoffs I'd be proud of them. :)
