1. lyrics:
Let Your Love Flow
Bellamy Brothers

There's a reason for the sun shiny sky
And there's a reason why I'm feelin' so high
Must be the season
When that love light shines all around us
So let that feelin' grab you deep inside
And send you reelin' where your love can't hide
And then go stealin'
Through the summer nights with your lover

Just let your love flow like a mountain stream
And let your love grow with the smallest of dreams
And let your love show
And you'll know what I mean, it's the season
Let your love fly like a bird on the wing
And let your love bind you to all living things
And let your love shine
And you'll know what I mean, that's the reason

There's a reason for the warm sweet nights
And there's a reason for the candle lights
Must be the season
When those love rites shine all around us
So let the wonder take you into space
And lay you under its loving embrace
Just feel the thunder as it warms your face
You can't hold back
Just let your love flow like a mountain stream
And let your love grow
With the smallest of dreams and let your love show
And you'll know what I mean, it's the season
Let your love fly like a bird on the wing
And let your love bind you to all living things
And let your love shine
And you'll know what I mean, that's the reason

Just let your love flow like a mountain stream
And let your love grow with the smallest of dreams
And let your love show
And you'll know what I mean, it's the season
Let your love fly like a bird on the wing
And let your love bind you to all living things
And let your love shine
And you'll know what I mean, that's the reason

2. I thought that was the one you were talking about
But damned if I couldn't get it into my head.. and now that you've posted the lyrics, I'll be damned if I can't get it out of there..

3. Yeah I like that one too.
Another one I like from the same period is "Swingin'" by John Anderson.

A friend got me into an alternative country band named the Bottle Rockets which is really good, plus there's an alternative country band that has some free tracks here:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/jemersonmosleymusic.htm

One of them is about the neocons, and the other is about Rush Limbaugh.

4. THIS is a country song
Well, I was drunk the day my Mom got outta prison.
And I went to pick her up in the rain.
But, before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got runned over by a damned old train.

And I'll hang around as long as you will let me.
And I never minded standin' in the rain. Ohhh.
You don't have to call me darlin', darlin'.
You never even called me,
Well I wonder why you don't call me,
Why don't you ever call me by my name

:D

5. Is that that David Allen Coe song?
I think that's his name. Like he gives a little speech before it saying that a country song should mention this list of things (like your Mom and getting drunk and a train), and then he sings about it?

7. yep
"The Perfect Country And Western Song."

That guy's really kind of disgusting, but he's a good songwriter.

11. DAC is pretty awful. I think he does magic/music shows
In Branson or Mountain View, AR.

Song was written by Steve Goodman. He also wrote "City of New Orleans." The perfect train song. As well as "Lincoln Park Pirates" about getting your car towed in Chicago, and "Chicken Cordon Blues."

He was an incredible songwriter and performer who tragicelly died too early.

Ask any Chicagoan about "Dying Cub Fan's Last Request."

13. Vegematic
Fell asleep last night with the TV on,
Oh, what a dream I had.
Dreamed I went and answered ev'ry single
One of those late night mail order ads.
Then four to six weeks later,
Much to my surprise,
The mailman came to my front door
And I couldn't believe my eyes.

He brought the Vegematic
And the Pocket Fisherman, too,
Illuminated, illustrated History of Life
And Box Car Willie with a ginsu knife,
A bamboo steamer and a garden weasel, too,
And a tie dyed day-glow souvenir shirt
From Six Flags Over Burbank.

Well, the doorbell rang all mornin',
All through the afternoon,
And I shook with fright as it rang all night
By the light of the Mastercard moon.
There was Federal Express in the pantry,
Parcel Post in the hall,
COD to the ceiling,
And I just couldn't pay for it all.

I got an egg scrambler
With a seal-a-meal carryin' case,
A set of Presidential Commemorative Plates
So I could eat my eggs off a President's face,
A minute mender
And a needle that'll knit or crochet
And an autographed photograph of Rin Tin Tin
At Six Flags Over Burbank.

Well I know that I was dreamin'
So I gave a mighty cheer
When I awoke, it was no joke
'Cause all that shit was here,
So if you fall asleep with the TV on
Let me tell you what to do.
Rip the telephone out of the wall
Unless you want this to happen to you.

You get Vegematic and the Pocket Fisherman, too,
Iluminated, illustrated History of Life
And Box Car Willie with a ginsu knife,
A bamboo steamer and a garden weasel, too,
And a tie dyed day-glow souvenir shirt
From Six Flags Over Burbank.

17. Actually, the late Steve Goodman wrote that..
... also wrote "City of New Orleans" after being on a whistle-stop campaign swing with George McGovern

10. Steve Goodman wrote it. DAC made it famous.
The Goodman recording of the song does not include that verse.

14. My secret shame
I love singing that one in the car and I know all the lyrics.
Another one I love is Satin Sheets. My aunt and uncle used to get drunk and play that one. It reminds me of them.

9. No, that is THE country song.
If such can be written by a native of Chicago.

8. As I recall, that song got lots of pop radio play as well as C&W.
It's really catchy.

12. Sorry to hijack your Bellamy Brothers thread
But someone brought up a Steve Goodman tune and I couldn't leave it alone.

Sorry. "Let your love flow" is a great tune.

There are plenty of good C&W tunes.

Remember Exile's "I want to kiss you all over"? Country band, kinda disco tune.

It takes all kinds.

18. Try some Patsy Cline...
..it's almost lounge-pop. Also look up Steve Wariner "Holes in the Floor of Heaven"

20. You poor thing!
There are some great C&W tunes!

Johnny Cash "One Piece at a Time"
Hank Williams "Jambalaya"
Roy Clark
"Okie from Muskogee"
"El Paso"

Of course there's plenty of manure out there, especially now, but isn't popular music kinda crappy right now. But the classics still endure.

Give it a chance.

19. There is some extraordinary Country music
Forget the Alabama, Brooks & Dunn Nashville cum Hollywood pablum.

Buck Owens and the Buckaroos were like the Beatles of Country Music, helping to create and perfect the Bakersfield sound, and introducing rock elements into an ossified 'Countrypolitan' industry.
