Van Halen.........love em or leave em?
I have to confess that I never liked this group.
Is it just me?

1. Hate em since Roth left.
He may be an egomaniac, but he was a damn good front man!

4. I liked both versions.

I also liked Extreme, but Gary Cherone was all wrong for the group. I liked the fun spirit of the original version, but if you look at how Roth has gone, it's pretty obvious that his drugginess and unprofessional behavior would have destroyed the group eventually anyway.

I think Hagar was a better long-term frontman. It's funny that the guy who came up with "I Can't Drive 55" is considered by many to be too square.

5. Hagar has talent and i don't think he is "square"
Van Halen was a great fun rock party band. Hagar IMO had too many sappy ballads and it changed the direction of the group. IMO Van Halen is not Van Halen without Roth. Unfortunately, i don't think they will ever settle their differences and reunite. The magic might be gone even if they did.

8. But isn't Hagar a repuke?

I'm pretty sure he's a conservative anyway. And I agree with you about the sappy ballads and changing the direction of the group. With Hagar, the band never rocked like they did with DLR.
