MAJOR congrats are in order for a few MN DUers.... |
|
We just had our congressional district conventions for most of MN this weekend, and I wanted to point out a couple of fellow DUers who have risen to positions of some importance in the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party:
wheresthemind was elected to the board of directors for MN's 5th congressional district, and he's not even 18 yet! He's been a diehard for Kucinich since the spring of 2002, and has been a real inspiration to many of us!
goodhue was elected to be one of two Kucinich delegates to Boston from the 5th Congressional District! Like wheresthemind, he was one of the first people organizing for Kucinich in MN!
dpbrown was elected as the Kucinich delegate from the 4th Congressional District! And just like goodhue and wheresthemind, he too was one of the first people organizing our state for Dennis!
These three guys are a true asset to our party, and to progressive politics in Minnesota. They are truly making a difference for us.
A big CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to them all!

I haven't been involved much since the caucuses, because my clients chose that moment to pile on, and I do mean pile on the work. (Upside: much needed money, but...)
But I'm delighted these fine DUers (and other members of the local Kucinich campaign) will be in Boston this summer, not to mention infiltrating the DFL.

6. Yeah, it's pretty cool! |

I'm thinking about running at state, but being unemployed it's a hardship right now to get to Boston. However, I did give DK's nomination speech at the CD5 convention, and had several people encourage me to run for national. And I even had a couple people on the MN4Kucinich list-serv offer to support me financially if I do decide to run, so you never know!
Oh, and Marty Sabo signed on as a co-sponsor for the Department of Peace bill!!!! THAT was the big news! He announced it at the convention, and got a standing ovation from the whole delegation (oh, and incidentally, I was one of the first ones on my feet when he announced it-- an "instigator" if you will!). The applause lasted at least a minute if not longer. It was really great to see the support among all the delegates for DK's plan.

13. Yeah, pretty cool huh? |

Sabo announced it during his endorsement acceptance speech at the CD5 convention. I am pleased to say that I was one of the first people on my feet to give him a rousing, two-minute standing ovation that got the entire 200+ person delegation out of their chairs!
Dennis did quite well in CD5, getting about 25% of the vote. Two of the eight delegates we're sending to Boston are for Dennis, and both are terrific people to boot. We really are blessed to live in such a great CD, where our politicians aren't afraid of being Democrats!
