Computer people...need help with a possible trojan.
Ok. So what happened was when I tried to play .wmv/.asf/.asx files in Windows Media Player it would cause Explorer (not my default browser) to open up to some gocybersearch.com page (something along those lines, not sure of exact URL). Ad-aware didn't find anything, but Spybot did. So i thought that would clear up the problem, but now, when i try to play any of the above mentioned formats, nothing happens. WMP doesn't open, Explorer wants to open (I can see it in my processes list) but it doesn't.

So..umm any ideas? Should I re-install WMP (how does one uninstall WMP in the first place)? Or what? I mean I can play these files in a different media player, but it's just a minor annoyance.

2. Check that the file type association hasn't changed
Open Explorer and select Tools | Folder Options...

Select the File Types tab and wait for all the types to load.

Locate the 3 character extension associated with the file you want to play and see what it is using to open the file.

If it is not WMP, click the Change button and associate the WMP with the file type.

3. If you go into options for media player. . .
there will be a file association setting in there. Make sure all the necessary file types are listed.

Open Media Player, go to tools, then options. There will be a tab across the top for formats. Make sure the correct items are selected and click apply.

This should fix the problem.

If not, go to my computer, then tools, folder options, then the file types tab. In that tab, look for the file extensions that you're having problems with and make sure they are associated with the right program.

One of those two methods should fix the problem.
