Anyone ever remove their own tonsils?

1. Yes.

I used forceps. It was rather messy.

but I really wouldn't recommend it! Besides, it's a lot more complicated as an adult.

3. Any remotely decent book or website

will tell you that you'd be insane to try it. It's only one day off of work unless you're a singer, standup comedian or sax player, so let the pros do it. The downsides of doing it wring greatly outweigh the upsides of saving yourself the trouble of a trip to the doctor.

4. OMG!!!!

I can't even imagine. Ugh!!! So much pain. My daughter had hers removed at the doctor and there was much pain for a week or so. I can't imagine doing it yourself.

P.S. My dad says his eventually rotted out from having tonsillitis so many times. I thought mine had until a couple of years ago when I got tonsillitis for the first time in ten years.

It is a long story but the doctor laughed like crazy and said he could not have done a better job.
