Cat is only affectionate on her terms. When she's ready to be loved she'll let you know.

Star loves to be held and cuddled. In fact she's sitting on my lap, biting at my arm because I'm not rubbing her.

Cider is WAY over the top affectionate. You MUST love him at all times. Lay down on the bed and he'll curl up on your chest.

Dot is an in-between. He is very affectionate sometimes and other times you don't exist in his world.

What about your cats? (If you have them.)

1. George is more the 'leave me' type
Most of the time he wants to be left alone. When he's affectionate he's super-affectionate, but then when he's had enough he'll let you know by taking a chunk out of your hand.

2. Quinn is always affectionate. . ..
unless he's really hyper and wants to play. The problem is you can never tell which mood he's in because he's always purring either way and he'll lay there looking like he wants you to pet him, then he pounces when you reach for him :).

3. Cats are food.
So the one in my house is more of a "Catch me if you can" critter.

4. Monty is "love me," but on his own terms
He's a funny one. He loves to be nearby, but isn't a lapsitter. He loves to lie on the bed with us, but not on top of us. Since Ferg died he has become more attached and will lie snuggled up against me occasionally, but it's more the exception than the rule. He purrs and kneads insanely when he's near us, but he just doesn't feel the need to be on top of us.

Simba, on the other hand, can't get close enough. He waits for laps to appear so he can jump on them and cuddle up. When we're in bed he loves to lie on our chests or between our legs. I can't study while sitting on the couch because I have to have my computer and all my books and papers around me, and he parks himself on my chest and arms and I can't accomplish a thing.
