1. Charlie Watts

By occupation, he's a jazz drummer. The Stones just pay the bills. ;-) Ever heard the Charlie Watts Trio? Good stuff!

Oh, Omar Hakim is good too!

2. I Have a Soft Spot for Trilok Gurtu

the fusion drummer who played with John McLaughlin. Never heard such a three-dimensional effect in drumming, or variation in tone and effect.

3. My soft spot is for Buddy Rich...
...saw his band play many times in the 70s. I've never heard a more "musical" drummer. He could play tunes on that kit!

Yeah now! :smoke:

4. Tough choice.
So I just picked Max Roach.

But really almost any of them would rank as my favorite.

8. No Bill Bruford?!?
He's a hell of a jazz drummer.

I can't pick on this one either. Buddy Rich's technique kind of annoys me, though.
