What's the best movie of 2004 so far
Sure, I know there will be more movies coming out this year, but up to this date what do you think has been the best movie of 2004.

My vote would have to go for "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" but oddly enough I would have to say that "Hellboy" comes in 2nd.

BTW, carry-over movies from 2003 do not count (like Lord of the Rings)

"Eternal Sunshine..." and "Kill Bill, Vol 2." I love me some Quentin Tarantino.

RV

On edit: I appreciate the irony of my pacifist sig line and my love of Quentin's grindhouse movies. Hmmmm.

2. Best movies
I liked Fog of War and Hidalgo and School of Rock. I hated Dreamers, it was creepy. and Ill tell you why.

Sex in the mainstream media is used as a psychological weapon. You have all this porn and then they barely delve into politics at all, only the violence of it. Notice how these rugrats get involved only in the violence you barely hear any political rhetoric. I left feeling like I had been to a peep show, which may be good for single men and women, alone, but if its not what you're looking for, it leaves you more depressed. Like Janet's boob. Its illegal to show tits, but you can sell the drugs that get you hard off it. As my friend R reviewed the movie, " Cute girl, Big tits. " Sorry, not interested.

Erol Morris' Fog of War was a brilliant insight into the mind of an insane neocon thinker that has been given too mush authority. We can understand from this that when you leave decisions of war in the hands of too few, you get disaster.

Hidalgo was nice because he flew the Native American Indian flag instead of the ol' stars and stripes, he didn't grope women for good t and a footage, slavery was given a wider context, Omar Shariff gave a lovable image of a repressive but coming around, middle eastern father. You see an almost Zinn-like interpretation of our American Soldiers and their treatment of the Native American Indians while simultaneously evoking the image of Iraqi's as the modern day Native under US occupation. Clever imagery, but not so deep that it turns off conservative mainstream.

School of Rock was superb. I started an art club for kids at my kids school. I fancied it sort of like school of rock because rather than asking the kids to draw what I saw, I asked them to draw what they wanted- novel concept in Federal schools today. "Rock is about Giving it to the Man."

Probably movies are from last year, but I have kids and, well you know how hard it is to be a groupie of any sort.

4. Hellboy is the best movie I've seen so far this year
But I think Van Helsing will be better once that comes out.

9. Congrats on the Habs' victory, but
"Goodbye Lenin" is a 2003 film. A good one, but it isn't 2004.

BTW, I really am happy that the Habs took out the Bruins. I'm a Caps fan, but I hate the Bruins.

Not enough limbs lopped off with her katana in this one, though.

13. Kill Bill Volume 2 decimates all
It slashes its way to the top. I still haven't seen Eternal but Hellboy looks really bad. Van Helsing looks spiffy because Kate Beckinsale is wicked hot.
