Girl (16) Sexually Assaulted in 2 separate attacks in 1 day

HOUSTON -- Houston police searched Monday for four men who abducted and sexually assaulted a teenager in two separate attacks in one day, News2Houston reported.

Police said on March 18, the 16-year-old girl was kidnapped on her way to a southeast Houston bus stop on Dawson Lane and Scott Street, and taken to an abandoned house and sexually assaulted by three men.

She managed to escape and tried to call for help from a pay phone in the 12900 block of Martin Luther King, officials said.

A man in a Chevrolet Malibu pulled up and asked her if she needed help. When she told him that she had been sexually assaulted, he offered to take her to the hospital. When she noticed that they were not headed to a hospital, the driver threatened her and drove her to a remote location on Almeda Genoa Road, where he also sexually assaulted her, investigators said.

Not saying it would definitely have made a difference in this case, but it might have. Girls are raised to be accomodating and not make a fuss. We MUST change that.

11. You're right, that was NOT my intention

I just get so sad thinking of a time when I wish I had been able to defend myself. As the post above says, when there are four abductors there is not much you can do. However there is always the chance that she *might* have been able to get away, if she was properly equipped with some knowledge of self-defense.

I remember taking my first class, and realizing how poorly equipped I was to defend myself. It was really horrible to understand how we almost set our girls up for this kind of thing, by keeping them 'feminine' and away from combat or anything like it. Boys usually get a bit of rough and tumble practice, if not formal training. IMO all kids should have formal training. Preferably with some martial arts included, as that tends to teach more discipline than just street fighting.

I can't help thinking of how easily I was overpowered that first day in class... that poor girl... and she is only one... one of thousands - in this country alone.

I know there are a bunch of yahoos here. I also have noticed that North Texas has a much bigger problem with it than South Texas does. But we Texas are getting bashed hard. I know that the nail that sticks up gets hammered down first but SHEESH!

I've lived here 100% of my life, and I am not surprised that North Texas has a bigger problem with it. (Don't want to start a flame war but IMHO this started in the 80's with the huge influx from *ahem* other parts of the country.) ;)
