Poll question: Which movie, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band or Xanadu?
Edited on Tue Apr-20-04 04:11 PM by Delano
If you were born between about 1967 and 1972, you may have fond memories of these FILMS.

(Or you might just be a "Disco Suxxx" HATER!)

Which one warms your cockles the most?

Edit: Clarified - I meant the MOVIES.

6. Hehe. I was a bit young for coke at the time...
I prefer the Sgt. Pepper movie on its own, but I have a soft spot in my head for Olivia Newton-John. Sweet face, beautiful voice, she was the stuff dreams were made of when I was 10.

2. I'm sorry, but...
love it or hate it, ANY disco album does not deserve to be compared to Sgt. Pepper's, which is the best album ever made.

Disco does suck, but this poll sucks much, much more.

9. Phew!
In that case, I'll vote "Disco Suxx" and call it a day.

Thanks for clearing that up!

5. The poster is referring to the blasphemous film of the same name
Peter Frampton, the Bee Gees...the worst music movie ever made.

3. I liked "Xanadu."
Yes, I did!

Gene Kelly was great, Olivia was hot, good tunes by ELO, etc.

11. Very memorable.
Funny how one day, disco was REALLY cool, then the next day it SUCKED. Same with Kiss - one day they were COOL!, then they SUCKED and it was all about Ozzy.

13. I never did see that.
I was about 10 then, and even though I didn't know they were gay (I didn't really know what gay was, except that it was an insult) , they kinda grossed me out, so I never saw it. They still kinda gross me out.

8. Are you referring to the SPLHCB movie?
Or the beatles' album. The movie was an abomination. The downfall of Peter Frampton and Aerosmyth. Xanadu, well that was an abomination as well but at least Olivia didn't have as far to fall.

14. Disco does suck - but ELO does not!
Voted for Xanadu because ELO was a great band. Olivia Newton-John wasn't hard on the eyes either.

15. True enough.
"Xanadu" was unfairly maligned as a "disco flick" because of the dance numbers, but the soundtrack wasn't all that disco-ey.

Then again, Jeff Lynne has blown off "Xanadu" as a piece of crap, and didn't include any of the Xanadu tracks in the band's boxed set.

I disagree with him, the ELO tracks are great, although they are a bit different from the standard ELO fare.

16. Other. Thank God It's Friday.
With a young Jeff Goldblum, a yound Debra Winger, and a young Terri Nunn (later with the group Berlin). A cameo by the Commodores, and Donna Summer, too.

17. Sgt Pepper Taught The Band To Play
When Oliva Newton-John was twenty-years away.

It's hard to do much with the "Blue Meanies" invading your homeland.
