Recommendations for Satellite/Dish Network |
|
I'm thinking of going that route. I'm paying WAY too much for Cable TV and I'm thinking that dish might be better.
Recommendations PLEASE!! I need local channels and HBO.
Thanks!!!

Direct TV is okay. We've had it for 3 years now.
There are so problems with it though. During the fall and the spring, there is sun interference occasionally and you lose your signal. When it rains anything more than a light drizzle, you'll lose your signal.
Other than that I can't complain. Just so you know though, in most cases, local does cost extra as does HBO. You'll also have to be a dish receiver that you'll need to connect to each tv in your house. They charge for each additional television after 1 that you connect to the dish. You most likely won't end up saving any money that's for sure. :(
You will get high quality pictures that you probably wouldn't get anywhere else besides digital cable.

2. I switched to Dish after 5 years with DirectTV |
|
Dish is cheaper, they have Free Speech TV, and DirectTV is owned by Rupert Murdoch.

they're really pretty comparable these days. If you're likely to watch Free Speech TV, that's only on Dish. I think either one can come with a DVR option, if that matters to you. Either way, you're better off than with cable - I could not STAND how awful our picture was with cable (and digital cable cost a fortune, and the local cable provider's service was terrible). We've been perfectly content with Dish.
I don't watch very much TV, but when I do, I want decent sound and a clear picture, not the godawful snowy static we were getting with cable. We get the local channels - which we watch once in a blue moon - for about $5 extra per month.
