Payment has come due. Same thing with Keith Richards - they are walking, um, zombies. :-)

I love Lou, don't get me wrong, but he was a bit too fond of the needle in his day.

The body always cashes its checks.

Lou lived a hard life for many years. He's lucky to be alive considering all the dope he put in his system over the past 40 years.

4. Saw him last summer

in concert, a nice 1000 seater here in Boulder.

Apart from having maybe the ugliest neck in rock 'n roll, he looked not half bad, at least for a former junkie past his sixtieth birthday.

He's also got fairly severe back problems, from what I understand.
The show was so-so, a fair amount of his artsy, cabaret stuff - but his thid encore, he came out and did "Heroin".

Few things in rock like watching Lou Reed sing that song.
