Briton 'tricked' into bullfight
Briton 'tricked' into bullfight
By Rob Mcneil, Evening Standard
22 April 2004

A British holidaymaker was repeatedly gored by a bull as he took part in a football game before a bullfight.

Ieuan Llewellyn, 44, claims he was tricked into entering the ring to take part in a kickabout before the fight began in Cancun, Mexico.

As he and five others played, organisers released the 18-stone creature into the ring. The 1,500-strong crowd cheered as the bull charged at Mr Llewellyn, a publisher from Bournemouth, and tossed him in the air with its eight-inch horns.

During the 12-minute "entertainment", captured on film by hundreds of tourists, Mr Llewellyn was gored nine times and had to be treated by a doctor. He said: "The whole thing was terrifying and I was in agony ... but the real insult was when the doctor asked me for a tip."
