Do you like Franken's Dittohead segment? |
|
My own opinion is Rush makes me so angry I turn the radio down during this segment of the show. I don't like hearing Limbaugh's voice, and I don't like hearing this dittohead trying to defend him. What are your reactions? Tell me how to not hate that segment.

3. frankly I stopped listening to Air America a week ago |
|
I forgot that talk radio is dull, even if people are saying stuff I agree with.
Just not my cup of tea - though Randi Rhodes is entertaining in small doses.

But I leave it on in the background at work to drown out FOX news, which my bosses listen to. When I focus in on the noise, I'd rather it be a message that doesn't anger me beyond all sanity.
Randi's great.

One of the things I like the most is Franken calling them on their lies. There was a great one about O'Reilly misquoting the NY Times this morning.

5. I really wish Air America would give Guy James a listen |
|
His Republican love segment is ten times more funny and his show is a great deal more intellectually invogorating than anything on Air America..in addition, he is great with conservative callers.

8. I think it is important |
|
It's more likely to draw cons to listen to the show if they hear someone from their "side" on there.

I wouldn't listen to O'Reilly or Limbaugh if they had a segment making fun of liberals. Or under any other circumstances for that matter.

13. I like the segment -- helps me frame my thoughts. |
|
For example, the issue is not disparagement of people in the military, it is the fact that the poor have to put themselves in the line of fire to get a decent opportunity to go to college! What a sad social infrastructure we have! I also like the segment because it shows me what they are thinking or are unaware of.

14. Kinda the whole point of Air America, ain't it? |
|
I mean, Franken's ire, since the early Nineties, has been the way the Fat Junkie and his cronies trounce all over context, accuracy and the truth. His books have been devoted to targeting their specific lies and shedding the light of rebuke on them.
Now, you may have hit upon what is arguably the inherent flaw of Air America--that it is a reaction to movement rather than a movement itself. Franken's show, from its title on down, has the air of something piggybacked, an addition to a building rather than a free-standing structure. He's made it clear that he may only be with AA briefly (past the defeat of Smirk it's anybody guess--I think his contract is for one year).
And I agree that the hosts of all the shows have got to learn the game of radio--my beloved Janeane displays little or no Garafalosity on her show, and Al is recycling the same one-liners over and over until it feels more like we're eavesdropping on a press junket than a talk show. It's a tough transition from stand-up to sit-down, it seems. It is a happy surprise (I expected him to be a one-note player here) for me that Chuck D is the best, most clearly defined radio talent AA has at this point. His reactions as they interviewed the author of the "Nigger" book were the most interesting thing I've heard on AA yet.
Fight the power!
