Tomorrow is The Bard's Birthday - and a not so famous American's too

"William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, allegedly on April 23, 1564. Church records from Holy Trinity Church indicate that he was baptized there on April 26, 1564. " http://www.bardweb.net/man.html

While in Stratford-upon-Avon with my brother the Philosophy Professor, I said something stupid about Shakespeare just being a playwright. Boy did I get a lecture and he was right.

It is hard to find anything in our culture that isn't influenced by Shakespeare. Just think how Romeo and Juliet is the basis of virtually every "other side of the tracks" film and even the great Titanic. He was brilliant man.

I hope others can expand upon the influence he had on our culture, our institutions and western civilization in general.

Guess who else was born on April 23?
