tulips grown by the woman I adore/post your flower pics
Mrs. V. is the love of my life. It took me 36 and a half years to find her, and that turns out to have been just fine. I adore her. I am crazy in love with her. I'm the luckiest woman on the planet.

These are the tulips she planted in our front yard last fall.

3. Cool!
Here's another for you:

I had never seen a tulip growing in the ground until I moved to Maryland. They fascinate me -- all bulb flowers do.

14. wow... I love tiny flowers
We have a Coolpix 880. It rocks.

When I moved out here I was just blown away by all the trees and flowers. One day while out driving, I asked Mrs. V., "What are those flowers by the side of the road called?" She said, "weeds."

born & raised in the Southland. I'm a beach baby/city girl. I love it and miss it -- but this is my home, and GOD it's beautiful out here in Southern Maryland!

12. I was surprised
that they grew. Not because of her skill as a gardener but . . . they just looked like giant garlics to me. I think I was afraid of being disappointment. No disappointment here!

I myself planted crocus bulbs in a trough planter on the porch. Chucky ate them all. Bad Chucky.

6. Bertha, that's great... I have always prefered tulips on my organ
more than roses on my piano, fur shure!

I think both of you are lucky. Print that bumper sticker? I put mine on my car today... got at least three birds in the first hour!

9. You ain't right!
I did, but I didn't put it on my car. I put it up at my cube at work. I am just waiting for the Catholic GOP atty w/ 11 children (he can't be a day over 45 -- and his wife homeschools the entire brood) to stop by and tear it down. Or at least ask me about it.

(Besides, I get enough birds during rush hour in DC by refusing to enter the intersection if there's a chance the light will turn red before I clear it. Gridlock is the name of the game in the Dysfunctional City. :eyes: )

7. Tulips are my fave, too!
Those are lovely. You are indeed lucky. It's nice, isn't it, to finally find that person who's "just right." Took me 35 years to find my guy. I left two failed marriages in my wake. Sheesh. After some disastrous decisions, meeting him was like winning the lottery. Being together is effortless. After almost 3 years, I'm still crazy in love myself and get all giggly about him. He's a dream.

But I wanted to talk about tulips...

We're moving to Oregon over the summer from Texas. I'm glad I will finally be able to grow tulips. In fact, they have a tulip festival near Salem, where we'll be living. It's so beautiful there. I'm very excited, but we're in the throes of packing, so it's a bit hellish. But, it will be well worth it.

Congrats on your bliss, your beautiful flowers, and your lovely love. :)

25. We're going to law school!
I'm 37 and he's 39, and we've both wanted to go to law school for ages. We both ran into the same roadblocks--other people who convinced us we couldn't do it. Luckily, we are supportive of each other, and decided we could in fact go to law school. So we are! We were both accepted to Willamette in Salem, and are on Cloud 9. Can't wait to get there.

And, we plan to use our powers for good and not evil. Public interest, civil rights, employment law, stuff like that. No big corporations for us. Been there, done that. :)

28. Hey, Red_Viking
I'm a 41-year-old just finishing my second year of law school. Part of me wishes I'd done it 20 years ago, but I know I wasn't ready then. I'm absolutely loving it, and I'm sure you will, too! I think people at our stages of life appreciate it more and don't whine so much like the "young'uns" with whom we share the experience.

13. you have to have a picture already somewhere on the web
then simply post the pic's URL into your message. If you don't have any photos out there, you can upload one from your hard drive with this site: http://207.137.168.225/

22. Bertha is definitely correct
but may add to that a bit? Go to www.photobucket.com. Create an account. It's free but I would donate a bit of money. Bandwidth isn't free. Then simply save your pic, resizing it for the web using a photo program such as Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. Upload the pic to your new account. Photobucket automatically creates below each picture the html code you need to post a pic on any board. It's very cool and easy!

16. Gorgeous, Bert!
Edited on Thu Apr-22-04 08:32 PM by fudge stripe cookays
My individual flower attempts have not been as successful this year as transforming "The Big Picture" (adding paths and a pond).

But here's my happy bunch of dianthus, which is has grown tenfold since last year. NOTE: Yes, it needs weeding. I'll start the minor routine maintenance when I have the big projects over with!

And here's MY birdbath. Homemade, of course!

23. If you're near a Big Lots...
that's my secret. :-)

I look for nifty cheap little doo-dads and $1.00 plates to mosaic. And antique stores sometimes have some reasonable ones with cool patterns on them.

Take a hammer, bust those suckers up, and use waterproof caulk to stick em on. Fill it in with white grout.

I do my own patio stones too. I buy the cheap patio stones at the hardware store, and do the same to them.

Ta da!
