What current, mainstream music artists do you LIKE?
I would prefer if we avoid argument here - I really want to know which ones DUers like. If you don't like any, you don't have to post. :-)

I find quite a bit in the mainstream to like and quite a bit to dislike.

Here are some of the mainstream artists I like:

Michelle Branch
Avril Lavigne
Vanessa Carlton
Shania Twain
Madonna
Courtney Love (I do not condone her behavior, though)
Hanson
Alanis Morissette
Usher
Norah Jones
Evanescence
Kenny Chesney (inconsistent before, but has gotten better)
Sheryl Crow
Alicia Keys
Beyonce
Dave Matthews
Bon Jovi
sometimes Faith Hill
John Mayer
No Doubt
Shakira
Brad Paisley
Tim McGraw
U2
R.E.M.
Green Day
Blink 182
Counting Crows
Phil Collins
Dido
White Stripes
Kylie Minogue
Pearl Jam
Alan Jackson
Alison Krauss (has gotten into the mainstream)
Stone Temple Pilots
Coldplay
Garbage
Barenaked Ladies

and more!

1. That's a good list
Edited on Thu Apr-22-04 09:46 PM by TSIAS
The first 3 on your list were the first artists to come to mind.

I'm going to see Michelle Branch when she comes to South Florida next weekend.

Edit- I kind of like Kelly Clarkson. She has a few good songs on her CD, but as a whole it's fairly mediocre.

16. Cool
I wish I could be there. Have fun. :hi:

I also agree about Kelly. Her voice is decent, but I'd give the CD a low B-.

7. There are a few exceptions: Willie and Johnny Cash.
A few others exist but look at my links to see my problem with Nashville.

8. BTW, mvd, wasn't it you that said I'd like the Corrs?
Well, I got the VH1 presents live in Dublin disc the other day....LOVE EM! Can't believe I've never heard them before... but then, I don't listen to the radio, don't have television, and don't have any people in my life that are into music like I am.

11. They are mainstream in Europe
Glad you love them - they'd be in my top 10 of all time. I recommend Forgiven, Not Forgotten next. And then try their poppier ones - Talk On Corners and In Blue. I think all their CDs are A+.
