6. Did you watch Oprah yesterday?

That had this guy with Tourettes who had an operation at the Cleveland Clinic that cured him of it. Now, his body doesn't shake anymore and his wife is expecting a baby.

Of course, the treatment was experimental, but it looked like he had an almost 100 percent recovery. The doctors stuck two neurons into the area of his brain that controls his motor skills (it was near the prefrontal cortex). They then placed two pacemakers in his chest and connected them to his brain. He is a healthy young man now.

Experts say "Everything's Fine"

I feel like Joan Allen's character in Pleasantville (minus any Jeff Daniels of course keeping me company).

12. Ever read a book called "Little Children" by Tom Perrotta ?
Edited on Thu Apr-22-04 11:22 PM by Taverner
You might enjoy it - in a dark sort of way...
Perrotta also wrote "Election" (which was made into the movie with Reese Witherspoon)

Wicked, wicked stuff...

14. I should check it out
I liked Election and the director of it also did About Schmit (liked that too). I like that dark comedy type stuff a lot.

15. You might enjoy it
Here's a cut and paste from publisher's weekly:

"The characters in this intelligent, absorbing tale of suburban angst are constrained and defined by their relationship to children. There's Sarah, an erstwhile bisexual feminist who finds herself an unhappy mother and wife to a branding consultant addicted to Internet porn. There's Todd, a handsome ex-jock and stay-at-home dad known to neighborhood housewives as the Prom King, who finds in house-husbandry and reveries about his teenage glory days a comforting alternative to his wife's demands that he pass the bar and get on with a law career. There's Mary Ann, an uptight supermom who schedules sex with her husband every Tuesday at nine and already has her well-drilled four-year-old on the inside track to Harvard. And there's Ronnie, a pedophile whose return from prison throws the school district into an uproar, and his mother, May, who still harbors hopes that her son will turn out well after all. In the midst of this universe of mild to fulminating family dysfunction, Sarah and Todd drift into an affair that recaptures the passion of adolescence, that fleeting liminal period of freedom and possibility between the dutiful rigidities of childhood and parenthood. Perrotta (Election; Joe College; etc.) views his characters with a funny, acute and sympathetic eye, using the well-observed antics of preschoolers as a telling backdrop to their parents' botched transitions into adulthood. Once again, he proves himself an expert at exploring the roiling psychological depths beneath the placid surface of suburbia. "

9. Couldn't find the audio file, but..
F U C K

Perhaps one of the most interesting words in the English language today, is the word: fuck.
Out of all of the English words that begin with the letter F, fuck is the only word that is referred as the F-word. It's the one magical word.
Just by its sound it can describe pain, pleasure, hate and love.

Fuck as most words in the English language is derived from German.
The word "Ficken", which means to strike.
In English fuck falls in to many grammatical categories.
As a transitive verb, for instance: Johnny fucked Shirley
As an intransitive verb: Shirley fucks

Its meaning is not always sexual.
It could be used as an adjective, such as: John is doing all the fucking work.
As part of an adverb: Shirley talks too fucking much.
As an adverb in hencing an adjective: Shirley is fucking beautiful.
As a noun: I don't give a fuck.
As part of a word: abso-fucking-lutely.
Or, in-fucking-credible.
And, as almost every word in a sentence: fuck the fucking fuckers.

You must realize that there aren't too many words with the versatility of fuck.
As in these examples describing situations such as...
fraud: I got fucked at the used car garage
dismay: ooooh, fuck it
trouble: I guess I'm really fucked now
aggression: Don't fuck with me, buddy!
difficulty: I don't understand this fucking question
inquiry: Who the fuck was that?
dissatisfaction: I don't like the fuck what is going on here
inconfidence: He's a fuck-off
dismissal: Why don't you go outside, play hide and go fuck yourself

I'm sure you can think of many more examples
with all of these multi-purpose-applications.
How can anyone be offended when you use the word?
I say, use this unique, flexible word more often in your daily speech.
It will identify the quality of your character immediately.
Say it loudly and proudly...

Fuck You!

13. American Heritage derives it from indoeuropean pu=filth.
Two inches down the page is indoeuropean puk=to hold fast which later becomes the Greek puknos=strong, fast, thick.

Sounds like two words punned off each other until only one was left, meaning both things.
