I'm working on convincing some people i know to stop shopping at wal mart and go to target.
I need some ammo about target's good business practices, if anyone knows of articles or websites i can show them.

1. I know that Target gives 1 percent of it's profits back to the community.
So if a town here in the Upper Midwest (home of Target) with a population of 10,000 people or so (Buffalo, MN for example) gets one percent of that store's profits, then the town is getting at LEAST $200,000 from Target if the store makes an annual profit of 20 million (average of about $55,000-per day profit).

That's a park rennovation or a new computer cluster for an elementary school every year right there.

2. Here are some previous DU threads
Obviously, searching the archive for Target is going to return a billion hits besides what you're looking for, but searching Dayton Hudson works pretty well:

Hopefully you'll find some useful links amidst and among all the opinions in these.

3. Everyone I know around here
shops at Walmart for the prices of thier FOOD (which Target doesn't offer).

I try to explain the benefits of shopping local. But I'll be goddamned if people don't care more about a dime than they do about the conditions of the working class such as themselves.

4. But Target's food prices are a lot less than supermarkets.

5. That's if you have Super Target. Some areas don't have them yet.
FYI.
