It may have my vote as worst monster ever on film. The fact that the victims have to help it swallow them is the best part.
The cool music at the dance adds to the terror

Here the giant puppet invasion force initiates mating with a small farmhouse.


But the most horrifying creature this movie had to offer was Alan "Skipper" Hale in the role of the local chief of police. He even said "Little Buddy" in a moment of groan-inducing camp.



It's remarkably hard to find shots from this movie. Maybe that's a good thing.

That's Tor Johnson, of "Plan 9 From Outer Space" infamy, as the monster in "The Beast of Yucca Flats." Curiously, nearly all of the film takes place on a mountain.
