Anyone here ever hear Of Slaid Cleaves? I'm going to see him play here in Cleveland tonight and I have a feeling it won't be a huge crowd. I am just curious if anyone here knows who he is? He is an Austin based singer/songwriter who I think is pretty good. I tend to listen to singer/songwriters more, being one myself. So...anyone here ever hear of him?

1. Yep, although I live in Austin. |

He's not exactly my cup of tea, but he's not bad.

5. Not mine either, but my father is fond of him |

Of course, I think my father's taste has rapidly deteriorated over the years, but that's just me.

I have his first record ("Broke Down") and have seen him perform live. (My favorite songs include "Broke Down," "Horseshoe Lounge" and "One Good Year.") A good friend of mine just saw him again last week and said he did a great show. Slaid is from Maine, but now resides in Austin. You will likely enjoy the show. If you do, you should be sure to check out one of his old friends and occassional co-writers, Rod Picott. (I actually think Rod is even more talented, both as a writer and a performer, but that's just one guy's opinion.)

4. I heard Broke down on a sample... |
|
....a little over 2 years ago. I got that cd, and his first two. He came a long way from the first two to Broke down. I am getting used to his new one (Wishbones), but it isn't close to Broke down. "Breakfast in hell" is a great song also. I'm sure I will enjoy the show, and knowing me, I will go up to him and yap with him a bit. Maybe slide him one of my cd's..what the hell...right?
