Now why would someone vacuum concrete? |
|
Took a smoke break downstairs in the garage. In comes housekeeping and vacuums the smoke area. It is concrete.

1. Not sure why you think that's dumb.... |
|
concrete especially collects dirt and dust that is best vacuumed up. Am I missing something?

2. Concrete Still Gets Dirty |
|
And using a vacuum cleaner stirs up less dust than using a broom.

How could vacuuming concrete kill you?

4. More effective than sweeping |
|
A broom just pushes the dust around. We use the shop vac in the garage whenever we clean it.
Of course, it would look silly if housekeeping were using one of those stand-up machines made for carpet.

7. Even a standup has "bare floor" settings.... |
|
So even that is understandable

8. They should use a shop vac with a good dust filter |
|
Or at least a cannister vac. The stand-up kind won't do much good on a concrete surface.

6. Buffing a carpet was a new one on me... |
|
and our custodians here at the cube farm do it about once a month, with a bristle buffer pad.
I finally asked what possible good it does, and the guy patiently told me it restores some lift to the carpet, and brings out a lot more dirt than vacuuming does by itself.
In all my years of driving a buffer (USAF 1974-1978) I never had a carpeted floor to deal with.

11. There is a special pad |
|
that does just what you say. A wet pad on carpet and a buffer is also much more effective as a shampooer than "steam cleaning" or other type floor machines.
