sad but you have to read what the father of the soldier has to say. http://www.kfoxtv.com/news/3034048/detail.html

What is it that's happening to our military? I'm horrified at what this Administration is doing to them...

2. What in God's name are they doing to these men?! |
|
Increased psychological counseling? DO they think they're fooling anyone? I heard an interview with a psychiatrist that worked for them and they can't to much of anything - not enough resources.

3. This story ran the other night... |
|
Both are originally from Cleveland, and the report basically corroborated what his father said. I don't know what to make of this. I'm sure this is a byproduct of combat, though....terrible...

4. Of course its a by-product.... |
|
This is what happens to soldiers in general. When the only "solution" to a problem is to confront it with massive violence...it becomes second nature. You "take out" the source of your frustration.
There are also reports that the medications provided to the soldiers might have long-term pshyological side-effects. This comes from the 9 former Green Berets that killed their spouses and then killed themselves. Then again...maybe they knew that we're all "doomed" as a nation...

5. Did this happen after soldiers returned from Vietnam? |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-23-04 12:07 PM by redqueen
Is this not unheard of for soldiers returning from combat? I've never heard of it before... it's just awful. It should be a happy time - reunion, returning home - how tragic...

8. Don't remember any stories.... |

Its peculiar...they won't let you hear or see the coffins...but they won't say anything about soldiers killing themselves or their spouses. :eyes:

I remember 4 army men came home and killed their wives. look for more of this to happen, I'm afraid. it's disgusting. do returning US soldiers get counseling? the way services to military personel are being cut but BushCo makes me think not...

7. The guy I heard interviewed indicated that |
|
they have enough resources to counsel troops going out to combat, but not enough to really take care of those returning.

"He's not my son anymore. I feel my son is still in Iraq. You can thank George W. Bush for this."
That's not quite fair, but its still devastating. War does things to people.

12. Bush is too far removed |
|
in the chain of events to be personally responsible for this man's wife's death. You might as well blame the father for not persuading his son to take up an occupation outside the military with a lower incidence of PTSD.

13. They brainwash 'em going in. They should deprogram them coming out. |
|
My guess is that the man couldn't, on some level, distinguish his own home from a combat zone or his wife from the enemy. Obviously there's brainwashing that takes place in the "boot camp" process which is arguably neccessary for creating a combat "machine" that functions well collectively and under orders without question. The problem is the lack of deprogramming when they return to the real world. Of course it's easier to call them back up (and get them to vote Republican) if you keep that mentality going.
