New and improved update for DU Delegation for Sunday's March

I just left PPDE and they confirmed the fact that the March Organizers are not publishing the map for all the delegations ahead of time. This means I have NO CLUE where our delegation will be located on the National Mall until I arrive that day.

There are 3 ways you can find the DU Delegation (which btw, is starting to number over 50+) for the March for choice:

1. When you get to the National Mall (which is located from 3rd-14th street between Constitution & Indepndence Avenue), the entire mall will be encircled by March Volunteers wearing sashes that will tell you where you delegation is located. Asked one of them where the Democratic Underground delegation is located and good luck from there
   
2. Check DU before you leave. This probably will be usesful for those of you who leave near DC and are planning to leave around 10am for the March. Lazarus has been kind enough to post our location once I figure out where it is and I call him. If you have any questions or problems you can PM Lazarus and he'll get in touch with me
   
3. Call me on my cell phone. I have not published my cell phone number publically but I have been sharing it with DUers who seem to be regulars here at DU. I will have to apologize, but after the attack I received yesterday online from a now tombstoned person, I may not be as willing to share the number as much. Please work with me on this one, I'm really trying!!!
   

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone at the march and hopefully, for those of you staying in town after the march, we'll go out for drinks or something afterwards!!!

BTW, this thing will be massive in size. I know that the State of Delaware, a state with only 750,000 citizens, has 13 buses going to the march. Heck our peace group can barely fill one for the anti-war protests. I found this very usefull link on the DC Metro page which you might want to read over - this will help you negotiate the rush on the subways on the day of the march

2. It's Really Not Possible To Assign A Specific Location

Our position in the march will really depend on how many people are ahead of us.

BTW, the weather on Sunday is forecast to be cloudy and in the mid 60s; that will be perfect marching weather -- no sunburn or heat exhaustion to worry about.

They have pre-assigned everyone a spot on the national march for where your delegation is to meet. This is before the March. Are you saying they haven't figured that out yet

6. Don't Panic, LynneSin

The march staff will be able to point us to an area on the mall where we shall meet. All I am saying is that the area could be a few yards away from a specific spot. If the march organizers expect 150,000 marchers ahead of us, but those delegations actually have 175,000 people, we'll be a little farther back.

We'll find each other just fine; don't worry. It'll be a grand day!

There were about 300,000 of us. I was in a small group at the back of the line. The first group stepped off at 12:00, and we did not step off the mall until 2:30. We arrived at the supreme court building at 3:00 and all of the speeches were over.
Where you are positioned in the march makes a very big difference.

I posted this in th old thread. The March starts on 3rd, so Federal Center will be the stop to get off at, but L'Enfant Plaza and South Capitol will work if you're willing to walk. With the trains running more often things will probably move faster, but its still going to be crowded. I can't wait!
