Boot Camp 1951. The Hospital Corpsman
He was not a Hospital Corpsman in boot camp. He was a raw recruit like the rest of us and aspired to become a Hospital Corpsman. I saw him again in the Base Hospital Yokosuka, Japan and yes by then he was a Hospital Corpsman.

He did not work in the hospital however, he was a patient recovering from wounds received in Korea while serving with the Fleet Marines. We talked a while. He told me that as soon as he was well he was returning to Korea.

He was a brave man/boy.

1. I had a friend who wanted to be a medic.
His career goal was to be an EMT. He talked about joining the Navy and seeing the world. I told him, "You know Navy Corpsmen end up with the Marines on the ground, don't you?" He joined the Air Force. Haven't heard from him in at least 15 years. Hope he's well.
