1. I moved from Columbia to Santa Clara, CA four years ago.

Politically it was like opening up the blinds and letting in the light. There were some "SCantiGOP" but they were sure hard to find. I remember a Dem precinct meeting (pre-92 elections) in a University neighborhood where only 3 other folks showed up. Hard to grow a strong lawn when you don't have many roots.
