1. I think the film reveals more with every viewing. |
|
I still haven't seen part two; I'm actually thinking of waiting until I can watch it on our HDTV set-up.

4. It's a combination of Spaghetti Westerns |
|
And Samurai flicks--two genres that kept on being influenced by the other. That's the genius of it, IMO. The whole film is about combining the two genres...or, in other words, the East and the West.
Or maybe I'm just out of it. ;-)

6. Vol 2 has a particularly funny fight scene |
|
with full-on 70's TV "kung fu" music. Gawd that was a riot. You'll know it when you see it. I wish I could grow a beard that made a "swoosh" sound. :D

7. That song was a flashback for me.... |
|
During the fight scene with Lucy Liu.
My dad used to have that album--Santa Esmeralda with Leroy Gomez. The disco version of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood."
It was unusual, but it fit! I just saw it the first time the other night too.

3. Well I assumed that. But how was the movie? |
|
Or by "Uma Thurmond kicks ass" did you mean it was an ass-kicking movie?
I haven't seen it yet, but am contemplating buying the DVD. So tell me what you think.
Oh, and while we're at it, what did DU'ers think of the movie Strangeland? I've heard mixed reviews, but the DVD is pretty cheap and I'm thinking of buying it.

5. Twisted Sister's Dee Snider as a psychopathic killer |
|
Very sadistic. Not my thing, but some people seem to like it.

8. See, that's what I keep hearing. |
|
Very sadistic. Sometimes it's not their thing, sometimes it is. You don't know me very well, so I know you don't have an opinion of whether I'd like it or not. I just wonder if it was well made or not. I can live with a DVD purchase even if it's not my kinda movie, as long as it's a "good" movie. I'd rather watch the film first, but sometimes I just don't see it on the movie channels and somebody recommends it. So I buy it sight unseen, as it were.
If it's well made, I'll probably buy it, whether I end up liking it or not. I'll take the chance. If it's not well made, I won't.

lots of fighting, Uma kicks ass, and her character is an ass-kicker...lot's of fun. If language or campy blood bothers you then pass (of course it's a Quentin film, so what do you expect?)

10. That's enough for me. |

I'll buy it in all likelihood. Yeah, I know Quentin. I like Quentin.
