Do you ever dream you are back there…reenlisted…my dream always starts with me walking down Long Street towards the “old “ barracks of the battle group. It is late at night and I have to hunt for the Duty Officer. God, it is real. From there its like an old “Braverman” film.

That walk down that street late at night is too real. It must have really impressed me at some time. Don’t take this as if these dreams happen every night, has just come and gone over the years. I usually wake up a little short of breath. LOL

1. No dreams

I don't have any dreams about being in. I do think about the guys I was in with though.

2. I think about my friends also

it is the dream, and it is always the same dream, that seem real.

3. Last nght could not sleep

I only atended five line of duty funerals, seeing those 20 caskets lined up... really made it difficult to sleep. I remembered the circumstance for each of them... and no it was not the US Miliary, but it is the same all over the world.

4. Whenever I hear Guantanamo Bay on the news

it reminds of pulling into Gitmo Bay and stopping into the "Gitmo Hilton" for some cold beers. It would get darn rowdy with 2 or 3 boat crews on the beach at the same time. }(

5. I used to have that dream!

For about one year after I got out of the Navy I would dream about re-enlisting and having to go aboard a ship- definitely a nightmare. I'm in the reserve now and could still be called. Believe it or not I hate my day job so much I fantasize about getting activated... Pretty sad eh? I'm in the Seabees now so no more ships- I'd probably be on the ground building shit out of the ruins of Iraq.

6. Less than once a year or so anymore. It's been 35 years.

During the first 10-15 years, I'd have dreams maybe once or twice a week ... tapering off to once a month.

7. My dream...

is that I'm back in Vietnam and everything is exactly the same except for me; I'm the age I am now and everyone else is still in their 20's. It's very weird, but not entirely unpleasant somehow. Actually, I'd like to visit Nha Trang to see how it's changed and what hasn't. I've always thought it must be one of the most beautiful locales on the planet.
