Please shoot me...
MCI (ex-WorldCom) is using Louie Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World" in its latest teevee commercial. Gaaah. I can't take any more hypocracy of this magnitude.

The humanity....

2. Please, that's nothing compared to the most grievous musical insult!
The Clash song "London Calling" used in a commercial for British luxury car manufacturer Jaguar. I can think of no musical juxtaposition more unfit.

4. Ok i gotta stick up for MCI
WorldCom (aka Bernie Ebbards sp?) did a hostile take over of MCI. All the MCI people HATED worldcom, and are very very glad to have them gone.

Just an FYI MCI built and maintains a vast majority of the internet "backbone" so you can thank them for this site

They still are a massive corporation who is outsourcing call center jobs, but they AINT worldcom

6. MCI... they charged me $80 for a collect call I never accepted
This was from 4 or 5 years ago.

No operator said it was a collect call. And even if I had accepted them (I don't, period, end of story), I sure as hell wouldn't let the bill go up $80 worth!! :grr:  :nuke:

Good riddance to the company, I don't give a flying fickle fig if they created the Earth, pineapple rings, and mint flavored condoms. When a company goes bad and ruins the lives of thousands, you don't forgive them because they were good at one point and did something beneficial, most likely under different owners who weren't predatory like today's batches of CEOs.

5. One more, using Peter Gabriel's "Big Time"
to advertise Lincoln Town cars. What? Even my 14 y.o. said "That's exactly the opposite of what the song's about."

What a kid. He gets it. I love him and feel like a very lucky duck.

But why the hell does a 14 year old boy get it, and the advertisers expect the buying public not too? Are they being tongue in cheek? Or are people really that unobservant. Either way, it ain't pretty.

Or maybe there's this great cultural inside joke I haven't been let in on. It could happen.
