What's the weirdest movie you've ever seen?

A neighbor once showed me Derek Jarman's 'Last Of England'. Man, that was really strange! Another strange movie I've seen is "City Of Lost Children'.

So, are there any movies that you know of that weirder than snake shit? I'd like to know so I can add to my collection of weird movies.

10. It was this horror movie.

I forget the name, but there was something about it that was just wrong.

This jealous husband goes through his wife's phonebook and finds all of these's guys' numbers. So he lures them all over to the house and kills them in the most insane ways. He runs over one of them with a lawn mower, chops off one guys head with a ceiling fan, and electrocutes another one.

The whole movie has this red glow and the acting is like a high school play. Normaly this makes a movie laughable, but in this movie it makes it look like some wil methed out documentary.

I wish I could remember the name. It was made in the 80's I think.

I remember a Papua New Guinean kung fu film that was pretty surreal...

I love it when Depp goes weird. I feel it happening again sometime soon. Plus the soundtrack by Neil Young made the whole thing sound raw. Plus it had Iggy Pop in a dress. And Billy Bob Thornton as a cowboy with weird teeth. Jim Jarmusch is a hell of a director.

25. Baxter

a disturbing, weird movie narrated by a dog.

"Baxter" is a French horror film about an amoral, sociopathic dog who is plagued by "unnatural thoughts," kills people, and voices it all in a cold, detached, perfectly enunciated voice as the camera stares into his empty, evil eyes. I know. It's hard to justify calling a dog evil, even a bull terrier like Baxter. But the film does such a perfectly creepy job developing a personality for the dog that he starts to show signs of his evil. The scariest thing is, the dog is not the most dangerous character in the film.

We get the story from the points of view of two characters: Baxter, and Charles, a terrifying young boy who comes to own him. The first third of the film is Baxter's story. He is given to Mrs. Deville by her daughter. He doesn't like the old woman, who is first afraid of him (which was acceptable to him) and then treats him like, well, a pet. He wants to be given orders and things to do, while she wants to have him sit around. He likes to watch through the upstairs window as the couple across the street makes love behind closed curtains. The dog's impassive gaze accompanied by the deep, menacing yet empty voice considered "the sounds their clothes made on their skin" is truly eerie. When the old lady starts to flake out (making him take baths with her, not allowing him to go into the garden), he decides to kill her. Afterwards, he is given to the couple across the street, Noelle and Jean, and for a while he is happy. Then their baby arrives, Baxter is no longer the center of attention, and he decides in his calculating way to get rid of the competition.

Herzog lost some kind of bet over the making of Fitzcaraldo, film about dragging a huge boat over a mountain, and has to eat his shoe for the payback. Les Blank, I think, coordinated the meal and filming of same. Since Blank is intimate with Garlic I suppose the shoe, a boot really, was quite delectable.

edit: Interesting. There are two film versions of Lathe of Heaven: one from 1980 which gets some good reviews, esp. for a made-4-tv enterprise, and a 2002 version which, predictably, is panned for sacrificing plot for special effects.

The Marriage of Maria Braun ... weird in a gentle way, more because of its narrative structure and the images of the German Chancellors appended to the end of the film.

I'd also add "Shadow of the Vampire," "The Boondock Saints," and my all time favorite weird movie, "Pi," which like "Requiem for a Dream" was directed by Darren Aronofsky--I can't wait for his "Lone Wolf and Cub" adaptation!

Oh, yeah, I'd also have to add anything by Troma Studios made during the late 80's! "Toxic Avenger," "Class of Nuke 'Em High," and "Surf Nazi's Must Die!" Ahh, my misspent youth ...

Jud Nelson plays a horrible aspiring stand-up comic who's grown an extra arm. Bill Paxton plays his self-serving friend and Sherilyn Finn is Jud's love interest.
Runner ups would be "Eraserhead" and "The Reflecting Skin". "The Reflecting Skin" is a beautifully done movie about a kid at odds with his world and who basically does not want to admit the horrors surrounding him.

Yank boy goes to Australia, meets girl, girl knocks out boy and drags him back to Koresh-like compound in the outback that supports itself by making dog food from kangaroo road kill. Girl marries boy while he's unconscious, boy wakes up and told he's nobody is allowed to leave. Compound is always flooded with music from Rogers and Hammerstein musicals. Lots of beer, dope, and flatulence. Hilarity ensues.

I can't remember the name of it. My college boyfriend dragged me to it and it was gross. It was set in Nazi Germany. Women were tortured by their crying babies and an elevator crashed down on a guy's head. When it was over, I insisted he take me to see Star Wars and sit through it twice.

Sam is a petty rebel in a oppressive world of conformists, but when his path crosses with a beautiful genuine rebel, he throws caution to the wind and throws in with her. But they can only get away with it for so long, so they pay the price... however, he achieves freedom in his mind that they can't take away from him, and in a world like ours, that's the best we can really hope for.

It's loosely based on the scenario of Orwell's 1984, but with a rich vein of black humor running through it. It is in my top three or four movies ever. Rent it and watch it again. Now more than ever.

...once you can separate Lowry's fantasies from his waking life. Kind of like "Walter Mitty" meets "1984".

Some of the scenes and camera shots are direct parodies of Radford's movie adaptation of 1984. Actually, it's a bit hard to say whether parody or homage or simple reference were intended, or if the similarities are coincidental. But the two do merit comparison.

The scene in Brazil where the pipes burst and papers fall from the sky like so many snowflakes... beautiful! Oddly enough, I was reminded of that scene watching the WTC come down, too: all those fragments of glass and "important" papers drifting earthward in the wind, I guess that could have been beautiful too if it wasn't so sad and horrifying.

C'mon....Japanese Nazis kidnap Abraham Lincoln (and some other Allied leaders) during World War II!!!

And to save him the Allies send a soldier, a drunk guy, an escaped convict, an Elvis impersonator who's a dirty cop, a girl who likes bazookas, and two homoerotic army guys who wear kilts and plate mail.

On their way to rescue them, they have to deal with flying Amazon women who's leader is some guy in a Tux, a Scoobie Doo haunted mansion, where one guy makes out with a dead girl and another plays mahjong with zombies, and a bunch of Mexican wrestlers and Road Warrior rejects riding on top of 1970's Oldsmobiles!!!

.....And I ain't even got to the really weird parts yet!!
