How many of you like Cheers, the T.V show?
Edited on Sat Apr-24-04 01:18 AM by coloradodem2004
I think it is great. Probably one of the greatest shows on television ever. I watched part of the episode tonight where Sam was a sports anchor and he did this rap and I laughed. It is still funny after all these years.

Sometimes you want to go, where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came.

3. MASH is also great.
I love watching re-runs of that. It also makes me laugh. I really liked the way Hawkeye ripped on Frank and Winchester.

12. Nah, Jim Ignatowski (aka Reverend Jim) was better than Louie :)
Edited on Sat Apr-24-04 07:22 AM by ET Awful
The episode where they revealed Jim's history (Harvard student, uptight preppy type, went to a party ate a "special" brownie, one bite and his face did an on-screen transformation into the Reverend Jim we all know and love).

I also loved Latka :). When Latka slept with a female cabbie (not Elaine, I thought it was, but I looked it up), and his priest said that since he slept with someone he worked with, that Simka must also sleep with someone she worked with. . . "but she does not work" . . . "then Simka must sleep with someone Latka works with." :) :) :) . . I believe the priests words were something like "Latka nik nik naborshka. . . simka nik nik naborshka . . . Simka nik nik Latka naborshka" :) :) (yes I still remember it over a decade later :).

Edit: Correcting a mixed-up reference. :)

8. CHEERS was very innovative at the beginning...
...I like the 'Dianne' era better than the later ones.
And Coach...man! Remember the episode that revealed he'd named the glasses?
Best sit-coms: BARNEY MILLER, CHEERS, TAXI, WINGS, HONEYMOONERS, SEINFIELD...none of them have kids...hmmmmm...

10. "Phone call for Ernie Pantuso!"
"That's you coach..."
"Oh yeah. Speaking!"

I loved coach on Cheers.

Agreed on some of the other shows here. Reverend Jim was second only to Louie DePalma.

"What does the yellow light mean?
"Slow down, Jim"

I also loved Barney Miller. I used to see Steve Landesman in our grocery store from time to time. He and Abe Vigoda were some of my favs, although with Barney Miller it was really tough to have a favorite.

13. Oh yeah.
that was a great line. Go to www.everything2.com and type "normisms" in the search box. It will give you a whole slew of great lines from him on Cheers.

14. Terrific show, but it grew tedious toward the end.
For my tastes, "Cheers" could have ended one or two seasons sooner than it did. Still a funny-ass show, however!

17. So many great episodes...
Cliff lives next door to Hitler ("I guess Trix are for kids...and der fuehrer!")

Lilith has the dead rat in her purse....

Coach's daughter's fiancee...("Hey, if they're not going to take a post-dated fourth party check, they oughta put up a sign or something.")

The gang goes bowling ("I can never bowl again, Sam...back in Indiana I maimed a guy in a freak bowling accident!"

Carla and Sam at the dance contest...

Norm's toga party ("Hey, hold it down, everybody! It's the phone!")
