I will always be a road race fan, first and foremost, but unless you've actually been to a NASCAR race, you should reserve judgement. A lot of folks (myself not amongst them) might consider the boat race that is F1 a tad bit boring for the lack of actual racing (passing).

Saw my first NASCAR race in '72 when King Richard won the Winston Western at the awesome Riverside Raceway. I'll be going to California Speedway next week for the race, and unless you've actually seen and heard a pack of 43 cars race past you at 180+, you may want to lay off the oval smack talk.

10. I've been to all kinds of racing

I've had my toes on the track during F1 races and been in the pits during NASCAR races. I find ovals totally boring! In fact, I was in the stands for a Winston Cup race once and fell asleep. Seriously.

I'm not a good race-watcher. I have to be doing something. I've been a race official for many different sanctioning bodies and even watching on tv I tend to observe the periphery.

But racing is fantastic...especially when they turn left AND right! :)
