Where Do You Usually Sit In A Movie Theater? |
|
Front? Back? Somewhere in the middle? Aisle? Dead center? Or does it even matter to you?
Personally I prefer an aisle seat about 1/2 way down... even though it's not the optimal viewing distance and angle, it's better than being "trapped" on both sides by strangers. (And if there's a fire, I want to be one of the first ones out.)

1. Close to the front in the dead center... |
|
though usually not in the front row. For the theaters I usually go to the speakers are behind the front row so the sound isn't so good. I want the screen to be so big and the sound so "right there" that I get completely lost in the illusion.

You know the going to the movies scene in Dancer in the Dark? It's not that bad. Not yet.

3. Aisle seat, near the back... |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-24-04 05:51 PM by Mary Pat
Don't like craning my neck backward to see the whole screen. Plus, with kids, it's good to be near the door to the lobby--bathrooms, Cokes, popcorn, etc.

counting from the first row. If someone is already there, my movie going enjoyment is severly curtailed!

6. I have to sit on the aisle |
|
If I'm not on the aisle, I get really claustrophobic. And I usually sit about halfway down the theater or so.
(I too think about the fire issue)

7. We always sit in the "very backest seat" |
|
to quote Caroline Kennedy in a sad context (what other kind has she had)?
Don't care if it's the left, middle or right section; we just want to sit in the back.

8. Depending on the theatre... |
|
I am a dead center, fiveish rows from the front gal -- or however close to the screen I have to be to have it completely fill my field of vision.
That way it's like virtual reality and I am IN the movie!
I think I'm heading out to see "Connie & Carla" tomorrow -- I want to check out how good the drag is. :)

9. We usually go to stadium theaters... |
|
So we either sit up at the very back in the middle or in the front section, three or four rows back in the middle. Duckie

10. I like a center seat about 1/4 of the way back |
|
but my ex-boyfriend liked the front. We went to see Woody Allen's "Husbands and Wives" that Woody filmed with a jerky hand-held camera (many interior scenes in an apartment), and sitting up so close made Raymond sick to his stomach.

11. I sit in a row close to the back. |
|
If I'm sitting to close, it hurts my eyts. Theaters have been subdivided so many times that most of the rooms are pretty small, so I have to sit way in the back to be far enough away from the screen.

always on the Right side as you're facing the screen..Always! The idea of sitting crammed in a sea of human flesh gives me the creeps... (well, at least, at the Movies)

14. Aisle seat....halfway between the entrance and the screen |
|
I don't like being trapped and since I am not small I don't like having someone else on both sides of me.

15. It depends on the theater |
|
If the aisle is in the center, I want the aisle seat 2/3 of the way back. If there are two aisles, I head for a seat in between the aisle and the middle.
