A Simple Life - In Photos
Edited on Sat Apr-24-04 08:19 PM by sweet_scotia
Bill Coleman has always been my favourite photographer and tonight I noticed he has added more galleries to his site.

Take a look at pure innocence.

1. Excellent pictures!
When Paul, Kenny and I were on vacation the year before last we went into upper Wisconsin's Amish country. While we were traveling the roads there were several cars behind a buggy. All of them turned off but one of them blew past the buggy and scared the horse which almost went into the ditch. We just quietly and calmly stayed behind and enjoyed the countryside. When the time finally came for us to turn off the Amish gent in the seat of the buggy turned around and gave us a wave as if to say, "Thanks for your time."

3. Seems like a happier life
when you remove all the trappings.

Coleman captures the beautiful simplicity of Amish life and looking at his photos has a very calming effect on me.

2. Thank you!
These are beautiful, all of them. Being a horse person I adored the children with the horses. Perhaps this would make a lovely addition to my birthday list! The scenes are lovely.

4. I have a framed print
Henry in Love - I bought it as a wedding gift a few years ago for a couple who called off their wedding.

It's still my favourite.

9. Toddzilla...why do you say the Amish are not very
nice to one another? I would love to do some reading on them but don't know of any good books.

10. Beautiful............
I grew up not to far from Lancaster, Pa and have always admired the simplicity and honesty of their lives.
We could all learn something from the Amish.

11. I live in a Mennonite community
Gentle loving people.....people of strong character and discipline.
They are always there for neighbours who have a need and they provide for others less fortunate in a quiet unassuming way. All summer long you see them working in the fields or having bake sales by the side of the road. The women have their babies at home and it's a community labor that leads to celebration as a new child is blessed.

The girls wear bonnets and the boys wear hats - always! :-)
