suspect I have spyware from a p2p... how the hell do i get rid of it?

I haven't downloaded any mp3's in a long time, but got a number of spyware agents on my machine. After running ad-aware last week, it found and remove 59 files.
My pc runs faster now I think.

But the usual suspects. Ad-aware from Lavasoft, and Spybot Search and Destroy should help.

But the particular p2p program, and the specific malware would help tremendously. There are lots of things on the net to clean your machine of these things, but we need the details to help more than just the generals.

you should have both Adaware and Spybot S&D. Run each one. There are some things the other one misses. In tandem, they work really well.

I use Spybot, which is listed near the bottom of the page. It has a function to immunize your computer against known SpyWare and AdWare installation.

I have a burned CD that I call my silver bullet. ADAware, Spybot, their latest updates,and a couple winsock repairers.

Usually does the trick.

Unfortunately it doesn't delete them. You have to manually do it, but it gives you instructions.

It's the last resort, because it takes a lot of time to do the manual deletions, but it does catch everything.
