5. You forgot Crowe
It was going to be a hard choice for me between Bender and Crowe. Since you left Crowe off, my choice was easy.

Bite my shiny metal ass, mammal

7. Marvin's not a robot either...
Edited on Sun Apr-25-04 11:46 AM by HypnoToad
:D

(And Kryten is technically a mechanoid, but that's another glib word for android, robot, blow-up doll, et cetera... :D )

27. Marvin is a robot from his head to the diodes down his left hand side
"Thank you the marketing division of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation," said Marvin and trudged desolately up the gleaming curved corridor that stretched out before them. "'Let's build robots with Genuine People Personalities', they said. So they tried it out with me. I'm a personality prototype. You can tell can't you?"

Ford and Arthur muttered embarrassed little disclaimers.

8. Okay, Twiki and K-9 I understand, but...
no votes for Kryten?

This is Kryten from Red Dwarf.

Not Kryten from Buck Rogers. :puke:

11. So that's why C3PO hung around him all the time!
I knew they were gay, I just knew it!! :D

Actually, they broke up. Balls of steel or not, C3PO gave up with the little drama queen and had a complete metal breakdown... :D :D

from Silent Running. That final image of the robot tending the plants alone out in space is pretty heartbreaking.

First name that came to mind even before I clicked on the topic thread.

Then a desperate search through the options, and no R. Daneel.

17. R. Daneel Olivaw - Master of Disguise and Master of the Empire
Do you not know of R. Daneel Olivaw?

Does nobody read Isaac Asimov anymore?

You Scifi buffs need to take a trip into the Galaxian Empire which for the unread begins in theaters this year with I Robot, staring Will Smith and hopefully continues through to the greatest SciFi series of all time, Foundation. Just as most modern fantasy owes its roots to Lord of The Rings, SciFi and detective TV owe much to the Robot series and Foundation.

The First Law of Robotics:
"A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm."

The Second Law of Robotics:
"A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law."

The Third Law of Robotics:
"A robot must protect his own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws."

26. He gets the best quotes!
Bender rocks...

"Look what I won from a tourist's pocket!"

"I'll build my own lunar module... with blackjack... and hookers!"

"This week I'm on 'Caught on Tape 3' because of what I did in the coffee pot!"

Essentially, any time when he steals, talks about booze, talks about hookers, or let's just face it any time he's given screen time, I'm ROTFLMAO!!!!!

35. Good one!
It's been years since I've seen that show. It was very popular at the time, I'm amazed it's not out on DVD. I've old nick at nite copies, but they're syndicated...

"Hymie" is an odd name though... I wonder why that became his name...
