Computer-Related Help Needed
I am trying to reuse a hard drive from a computer that used Windows NT 4.0 as its OS. I want to repartition and reformat the drive so that I can use Windows 98 as my OS but I'm being asked several questions that I can't answer. Can someone please direct me on how to respond to the following:

Do you wish to enable large disk support (yes/no)?
Should NTFS partitions on all drives be treated as large (yes/no)?
__________________________________________________________

Create DOS partitions or logical DOS drive
Current fixed disk drive: 1
Choose one of the following:
1. Create Primary DOS partition
2. Create Extended DOS partition
3. Create logical DOS drive(s) in the extended DOS partition

Enter choice: < >

__________________________________________________________

Set Active Partition
Current fixed disk drive: 1
Partition Status Type Volume Label Mbytes System Useage
1 A NTFS 3993 15%
2 NTFS 22129 85%

Total disk space is 26121 Mbytes
Enter the number of the partition you want to make active: < >

1. Can you boot into NT first?

You may have to remove partition 2 from NT rather than fdisk, if it's an "extended volume."

Otherwise you'd specify:

Large disk: Y
NTFS parts: Y

Delete all partitions
Create Primary DOS partition
Use all available space (it will default to the max)
Press ESC until back at the DOS prompt
Reboot (with Win98 boot disk still in the drive)
FORMAT C: /u/s
(/u means unconditional, /s means transfer boot files)

3. If you force a NT to dos partition you forgot one format setting.
Format /mbr

This restores the master boot record to a dos version.

2. This is simple...
Delete all the partitions and let the 98 install disk make the partitions for you.

However, I urge you to reconsider using a hard disk that old.
