Just saw "Club Dread"

It was OK...not as good as "Super Troopers," but there were some laugh out loud scenes (the way Juan pronounces "Penelope" for example.)

But it lost something after the first half hour, unless Paxton was on the screen.

Oh yeah, there's some hilarious refs for any Parrotheads out there...definitely think they could enjoy this flick.

1. I enjoyed it

But I thought the horror aspect of the movie detracted from the comedy. I just don't think horror comedies work. Horror is usually built off of suspense and tension, and comedy eases tension, so they contradict each other. Evil Dead rocked, but it was more of camp horror and so didn't even try to be scary.
I just hope that Broken Lizard doesn't get too discouraged by this. I know they will eventually have their breakout movie if they keep at it.

According to an Onion interview with the director, he and Paxton took the film to Florida to screen it for Jimmy Buffett, and reports that Buffett was really enjoying the references to him.

3. Doesn't surprise me

Buffett always seemed like an easy going guy (and FTR, he is NOT a Republican, but quite the coral reef Enviro-activist) and the refs are pretty funny.

I'm pretty sure at least. It's got stiff competition for that day though. Return of the King comes out too, as well as Miracle I think.

6. Thought it was good.

Not great. I saw it opening day hoping it would be another Super Troopers, but I was disappointed. Reflecting on it, I find that it was very enjoyable if you don't use their other work as the average.
