According to Karen Hughes - because of 9/11 - country does NOT want choice
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/04/25/politics/25CND-MARC.html?hp

Karen Hughes, an adviser to President Bush, appeared on CNN today to provide a counterpoint to the anti-Bush sentiment on the Mall. She praised the president on his "very strong record for women," saying he has employed more women in senior-level staff positions than any other presidential administration.

She also said that abortion-rights activists were moving against what she said was popular momentum, particularly since the terrorist attacks of 2001, in favor of anti-abortion policies.

"I think that after September 11, the American people are valuing life more and we need policies to value the dignity and worth of every life," she said. "President Bush has worked to say, let's be reasonable, let's work to value life, let's reduce the number of abortions, let's increase adoptions. And I think those are the kinds of policies the American people can support, particularly at a time when we're facing an enemy and, really, the fundamental issue between us and the terror network we fight is that we value every life."

OH MY FLICKING GOODNESS!!!!!

Is she ill???!!!!

Geez, we'll now use 9/11 to say why we should not give women a right to choose.

Please clean up the exploding brains now from this bizarre comment

1. It's not surprising
They have used 9/11 to justify everything they've done. I'm shocked--shocked, I tell ya!--they haven't played the 9/11 card before.

4. They put more value on the fetus then they do the young boys and girls
Edited on Sun Apr-25-04 08:06 PM by lovedems
fighting in Iraq and the innocent women and children dying because the chimp had to have his war!

If they cared about children so much, they would make sure they all had healtcare and a good education. Fuck the kids, save the fetus. Once the child is born, he or she is on their own. It it was up to them a child born poor would stay poor and if that child chose a life of crime, it would give the sick bastards one more person to execute.

I am sick of the shills speaking for "the american people". They represent a sick minority.

7. EXACTLY!
Couldn't have said it better myself, especially about how it all ties in with their eagerness for the death penalty, which you NEVER see them impose on their own kind.

Remember the hell former Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders caught for saying that the so-called pro-lifers needed to "get over their love affair with the fetus and start supporting CHILDREN!" And she was absolutely right, although they sure as hell didn't want to hear it and the media whores spun it the wrong way.

10. I think it is screwed up that they call themselves "pro-lifers"
they are more pro-exsistence. They don't care about the kind of "life" children live, they just want them to be born and exist. The kind of LIFE they live is totally irrelevant and unimportant to "them".

12. My stepdad calls them
"pro-birth", which is exactly right. And they need a certain number of people born to become their service workers and cannon fodder for their wars. Their "proles", so to speak.

There was a great cartoon a number of years ago that showed their hypocrisy and contempt for the common person perfectly. It was a politician kneeling in front of a very pregnant woman, saying "miracle of life!" The next panel showed the same politician standing in front of the same woman holding a baby, and saying "sniveling little welfare cheat!"

14. I've seen them referred to "anti-abortion"
which is what they are.

I'm pro-life

Thing is, I care about what happens to the child when he/she is born

The best chant today

Pro-life is a lie, they don't care if women die

8. Funny - but no Dem is in favor of more abortions - but New York Times lets
her get away with the comment as if it was true.

Thank God the paper of record is concerned with the truth to the point they would not want to convey a wrong impression of the facts - simply by quoting a liar spinning for Bush.

11. She is the kind of Republican woman
who thinks that life won't happen to her. You know she thinks, "I'd never have an unplanned pregnancy". "My husband would never cheat". "My daughter would never screw up and get pregnant in high school", etc. etc.

Until it happens to her. Then she'll freak because she thinks she's better than other people.

13. And what really pisses me off
is her smug superiority when she talks about her decision to quit her job because her teenage son needed her. I did the right thing, she says, every woman should really consider their lives and try to do the same.

Well, EXCUUUUUUUUUUSE ME, but not all of us are rich and married to men who can afford for us to just quit our jobs and focus full-time on the family, much as a great many of us would like to do. I wish I could do that, but, being a single parent with no husband in sight, that'd be a bit difficult to do, I don't have any fucking choice.

And maybe some women actually LIKE their careers, find them fulfilling, and are able to take better care of their families because of it.

17. Well, what do you expect? Hitler had the same problem.
WWI decimated the manhood of the Fatherland, WWII was making mincemeat out of the generation that was born between wars, and old Adolph was in danger of running out of cannon fodder.

So the Nazis start spreading the idea that Motherhood is most honourable, having babies out of wedlock wasn't such a big deal(especially if the father was an SS officer) and they even gave cash bonuses and this nifty medal for popping out kids...

so of COURSE we need more babies after 9-11. Have to have the troops to fight our never-ending battles of revenge and world domination, don't we?

"...the fundamental issue between us and the terror network we fight is that we value every life."

I won't post any pictures of dead Iraqi children because we've seen them and haven't forgotten them.

"We value every life"...What a load of unmitigated bullshit. Really, is it actually evil to want to see this whole bunch dangling by their necks on the steps of the Capitol building?

tells lie after lie without compunction and doesn't blink.
She obviously believes in her product. She coined the
phrase compassionate conservative. I think she is as evil
as he is.
