My Cat Has a Cellophane Fetish
CD wrappers. Cigarette-pack tops. Tape.

Can't leave the stuff laying around or she eats it. And, more often than not, pukes up.

*sigh*

1. Cellophane can get lodged in a cat's intestines
and possibly kill it. you should *try* to keep it away from kitty.

3. I've had two cats like that.
A couple of thoughts. My cat who does it now has a really thick coat and frequently has hairball problems. She eats the plastic because she needs to yak. She doesn't do it as often now, I have her on hairball food.

Another suggestion I've read various places is to try growing some 'kitty grass' for the cat, like wheatgrass. Some of them chew on plastic because it's like grass. I don't know if it's the same thing as with mine, or related (i.e., they chew on grass because they're dyspeptic and need to yak), but it could be.

4. and ribbons
grass will help, but mine has her own yard with several kinds and still tries to get any cellohane she can. She loves to eat spiders too.

6. My cat ate a good chunk of audio tape once...
... now every time she meows, Earth Wind and Fire's "Serpentine Fire" comes out.

8. Cats Cellophane & Christmas
Tinsel decorations off the tree ,kitty eats it .A day later,it comes back all shiney, hanging out the cat's rear.Yuck.
I kept, cellophane plastic and tinsel away from my cats ever since.
They love the cracle and sparkle.
Kity hoots puts out cat toys with thart crackle cats love in it,embedded in fabric butterfly wings. Also there are cat safe toys ,like glittery plastic balls out there! If she loves the plastic get her cat safe toys with that feel and noise.

I don't know about cellophane, but plastic in general tastes sweet to cats.

15. One of mine is utterly insane about licking plastic
he doesn't eat it, but he's truly obsessive about licking it. He'll dig plastic out of the wastebasket before chicken bones (neither of which are permitted to him). I think perhaps it's just his way of being really irritating, since I cannot abide the sound of his raspy tongue licking plastic. Especially at 3 a.m. right next to my bed.

16. Birthday Cake
I brought home the leftover birthday cake in a large cardboard box with a cellophane insert (so the pretty design can be seen). Our large male cat decided to walk back and forth over the plastic - it made such a nice sound. He broke through, was paw deep in frosting, and ran like hell. I don't think he enjoyed licking the frosting off his paws.
