CNN is doing a Nascar/Bush story
They are saying most Nascar fans are Bush supporters. Somehow, i'm no shocked by this. I never understood the fascination of any car racing "sports." Am i alone?

1. It's a total fucking puff piece...

I accidentally caught a few minutes of it and almost gagged.

God, I fucking hate cable news. Just Bush worshipping garbage.

When was the last time they did some demographic group who supports Kerry and had some smiley bitch sitting there chumming it up with them and not interrogating them and implying that they are insane?

2. I think the races are boring, but
I'm not going to put them down, because my tv-buddy Dave Letterman likes them. :)

3. Considering the average intellect of a Nascar fan...
no bloody mystery why the majority vote Bush.

These are people who drive 150-190 MPH in circles, 18 inches apart, and right next to a concrete wall, how smart can you be?

6. I agree. What a waste.
The only reason i could imagine people watching is for morbid curiosity. They want to see an accident.

17. or they enjoy racing?

People who watch the ballet are only hoping the artist falls and breaks her leg. Most true race fans are scared to death of an accident occuring. This weekend marked the 10 year anniversary of the tragic death of Ayrton Senna. I don't know many race fans who were morbidly curious about seeing that happen.

7. You've got to be kidding me
Why would they run this story again? Think of all the other news events happening today.

I mean, what is the context of this story? Did they just bring it up out of the blue?

And who are the guests?

8. Look on the CNN site
(as of now) It's right on their front page under video. It's called
"The rise of "NASCAR Nation"

They had to have something to contrast with the thousands of womens' rights marchers in DC, so they have to show a big crowd of NASCAR fans and trot out Bill Schneider to tell us all how they're all going to vote for Bush (did he give any evidence of this or was this just his "expert" opinion?) Lord knows what we'd do without Bill Schneider to tell us how to think. :eyes:

10. I think theyre really worried about Kerry's union support
Union members can be NASCAR fans...and this year they feel SHAFTED...so once again the media is trying to tell them "You like NASCAR so..you...will...vote...for...bush..."

16.  There was no point to this story
The stupid Nascar thing covered almost more time than they gave to abortion rights protest.

15. My family are big NASCAR fans
Sometimes I have questioned my father's political ideals, but my mom and I are incredibly liberal.

She's even from Florida and we lived in Daytona Beach for a long time (she grew up there and went to the very first Daytona 500 at the paved Speedway).

That story is obviously horseshit. I love the sweeping generalization about NASCAR fans.

18. Bullshit, IMO
I know plenty of Nascar fans who are NOT Bush supporters. Why do they want to group such a diverse group of people into one stereotype?
