In-Wall Speakers and electrical cords
Hi, I just got a set of in-wall home stereo speakers (Bose
191s) and set two of them up. They're working fine. Now
I've got space in the wall wired up for two more, but there's
a problem: one of my prewires is about 6 inches from an
electrical outlet.
The instrucation manual says you should be a min of 3 feet
from an electrical cord or there will be interference. I
don't have much flexibility in wall space here. What do you
think, can I get by like this, or go with a plan B?

1. Is the outlet and the AC wire in conduit?
The main thing, is to not run speaker cables (or any other kind of audio, video or computer cables) parallel with electrical wiring.

Keep the two as far apart as possible. If you need to cross them, cross at right angles.

But again, if your electrical wiring is in conduit, that might be enough to avoid any interference.

6 inches does sound a bit close though. One thing you might have to do is 'shield' the speaker. Can you put the speaker in a metal box in the wall, and then ground the metal box? That might keep any interference away from the speaker.

2. shielded
Just make sure you speaker wires are shielded and you should be fine.

Thanks for the response, guys. Have you got any idea what product I might buy to shield a normal speaker wire?
