Be good to your mothers, kids! |

I had a call yesterday from a former neighbor. We lived across the street from her for 25 years. She is 89 years old and a widow. A few years ago, one of her two sons, age 58, lost his job, had a nervous breakdown, got divorced and moved in with her. He has had "health problems" and she has taken care of him and supported him financially. The other son, who is quite well off, has done little or nothing to help his mother and brother out.
During the phone call, my neighbor told me that her son had had another breakdown and was in the hospital. At the same time that he was hospitalized, an Arrest Warrant was delivered to her house which essentially said that the son had failed to appear at some sort of hearing, was in contempt of Court and was going to be arrested unless he appeared at a continued hearing this Wednesday. My neighbor has no idea what this is about and her son "can't remember". Her other son if on vacation in St. Bart and won't come back to help.
My 89 year old neighbor was planning to appear in Court herself! I talked her out of that and have been trying to get a lawyer to represent her. I would do it myself but I'm not a criminal lawyer and would probably make a mess of things.
I am just so pissed at her two boys...especially the one who is in a position to help. This lovely woman has no one else in the world.
Well, the lawyer I recommended hasn't called back yet...God, I hate lawyers! Maybe I'll call somebody else. Just venting here, thanks for listening and cherish your parents!
