and I don't give a damn if the taxes go up to $20 a pack. I will still smoke cigarettes.
I don't plan on living forever, and will die from something.
I like cigarettes, and will continue to smoke them.
The people who put taxes on "sin" have nothing on me.

I go outside to smoke when there are others around, because I am aware that only 25% of them smoke, and smoking affects everyone in a room.

When people say how unhealthy it is, I say, "I'm killing myself, slowly."

I smoke too and wish I could quit. Who knows... thousands/millions have managed to do it. I've got to get my butt (no pun intended :-) ) in gear and JUST DO IT.
What puzzles me is your lack of concern about your health. You (and I) are costing people a ton of insurance $ who don't deserve the burden of our lifestlye choice. I don't think I need to go into it, though.
Smoking is a horrible adiction. I, as a Maine State Legislator voted to ban smoking in resturaunts (Maine was the 2nd State- BTW) I also voted to add a tax to tobacco during all 3 of my terms. It costs me alot more but I still smoke.
Bottom Line...you and I need to quit!!! PM me if you want. -MM

It's too early to say if I have quit or not - I've given up for 6 months before & gone back on the cigs when I've been a bit down.
But that's not really why I write. You say that smokers cost people a ton of insurance (or over here cost the NHS a lot), but we all have to die of something & most likely that will be a long lingering illness - if it's not lung cancer or heart disease caused by smoking. It's going to be heart disease caused by bad eating, Alzheimer's, another form of cancer all of which cost a lot to treat. So will cutting out smoking save money or will it just remove a form of revenue?
There is, no doubt, a flaw in my logic somewhere so if anyone can point it out please do.

and anyone who has a problem with that can go shit in his or her hat! ESPECIALLY MY MOTHER
of course, if that anyone also happens to find second hand smoke irritating or is, for some CRAZY reason, afraid of a slow and silly death, i'll readily oblige him or her.

I take it that that is an "over the top" estimate?
