Damn...Hubert Selby died...... |

I'm so bummed out right now. Such a great author. I had the honor of interviewing him when I was doing a paper for my Masters Degree on his work. Seemed like a sweet guy but one with a lot of demons according to the CNN article on his death, and which was apparent in most all of his writings.
If you've never checked his work out, and are a fan of beat fiction or gritty drama along the lines of Boroughs, Henry Miller, or Hunter Thompson, by all means please seek out his work.

1. Sorry to hear that. I've read all of his novels. |

Plus, LAST EXIT TO BROOKLYN and REQUIEM FOR A DREAM were incredible films.
RIP, Brother Selby!

He came to my school when I was working on my MFA. Didn't get to interview him, but he gave some very inspiring talks/workshops that summer. A very gentle soul, who had been through some very hard times at points. Great writer.

He was a brilliant writer and a wonderful man. Several years ago he and I would have weekly phone conversations. He gave me invaluable advice about both writing and living.
