Slide Production: Need Help
I recently scanned copies of my artwork and was wondering if it is possible to have the *.JPG images transferred to slides that I can take to a gallery. Is this complicated and approximately what cost am I looking at?

Thanks in advance.

1. Short answer-- yes, but...
I don't have a list of the service bureaus that do it handy, or any prices. I seem to remember it's not terribly expensive.

But, is that the only option? I know that in the past chromes were the only way to go, but things have changed drastically. Chromes were wanted because they were easier to view than color negatives, and the color balance, etc. wasn't messed up in making prints.

Making slides out of jpegs introduces possible color, contrast, and other problems that used to show up in prints, so they may not show your work to its best advantage.

Can you just print the stuff out on a decent inkjet? Even printing it out on transparencies may be better than making 35mm slides. Odds are the gallery will be looking at the slides on a lightbox, not projecting them, and making a sheet of 2x3 or 4x5 images will be easier to see than 35mm. In the old days, photo editors loved larger chromes. And, printing from the original jpegs might be more accurate than making slides. If you don't have a good enough inkjet, there's always Kinko's.

Plan B, of course, is to find a decent camera and macro lens, get a roll of Kodachrome, set up the lighting, and shoot directly onto chromes. That's the way we used to do it, and it still gets the best results.

2. Perfect!
Don't know why I didn't think of transparencies! Geez! I've got access to ALL the materials I need at work.

Thanks for the advice!
