1. Um....ok
That's weird. Though Keith has written a lot of cool country-rock riffs.

3. I actually own....
the Dixie Cups album with the wedding cake and, of course, Dixie Cups on the cover. I was driving across country about 20 years ago and found it at a garage sale in the Middle-Of-Nowhere Iowa.

So, are you going?

4. Why Keith Richards?
Seems disingenuous to the rest of the line-up.

5. Green with envy--but we may all get to see the show--eventually!
Apparently, the Saenger Theatre is a wonderful old movie palace, "re-purposed" as a live concert venue. Their website pointed out the show was going to be filmed; no more tickets available!

Further searching revealed the concert is called "make It Funky" & it will be in a film about New Orleans music. According to the Times Picayune: "The past two Rolling Stones tours have bypassed New Orleans, but guitarist Keith Richards is coming to town. Richards has joined the roster of Tuesday's 'Make It Funky!' concert at the Saenger Theatre. He'll perform as part of an all-star tribute to New Orleans music that Michael Murphy Productions is filming for theatrical release through Columbia TriStar. Aside from the obvious appeal of Richards' star cache, he is a longtime fan of New Orleans music and musicians. The Rolling Stones enlisted both the Neville Brothers and the Meters as opening acts years ago; Ivan Neville logged several years in Richards' side band, the X-Pensive Winos. Local favorites the Dixie Cups, Walter 'Wolfman' Washington and Snooks Eaglin have also joined a roster that includes the Neville Brothers, Allen Toussaint, Earl Palmer, Henry Butler, Jon Cleary, Monk Boudreaux and more."

Some of the performers at this show can probably tell stories that would make Keith blanch in terror; he's taking part to show his respect. Sounds like a worthy project & will probably be a fine show.

Let us know!
