I have to take my SATs Saturday... any tips?
I'm nervous about them... :(

And on a side note, if you are the one to correctly guess what I will get on my SATs... you will win an awesome prize! :D

1. As I remember....

...it really tests reading comprehension and logic (analytical skills). So read everything every clearly and thoroughly before you answer. That's probably not much help...

2. Get lots of rest
Being rested helps out. And try not to agonize over individual questions. Lots of bright students get bogged down and lose points that way.

3. Are you a junior or a senior?
Don't worry. My strategy if you are a junior is to take it once, evaluate your results, study where necessary and take them again. You only have to report your highest score to colleges. After my first test (two years ago) I was lagging in geometry, so I studied that a lot and improved by 150 points on my next score (1460). If you can only take it once, just remember that random guessing will cost you, not help.

5. Oh, then definately just relax and take the test!
Do your best, but keep in mind that you can take it more times to improve your score. Don't worry, the pressure's off.

6. Sleep
Friday after school do something active, run, ride a bike, swim whatever, but it should be something active. Do NOT cram, if you don't know it by Friday, you wont on Saturday. Live with it. Then goto bed early, get as many hours of sleep as your body will let you. The work out on Friday should wear you out so that you're sleepy. Wake up at least an hour and a half before the test. Don't take more caffeine than you usually do or you will crash and thats no good. Again do NOT cram! It will just stress you out.

Whatever you do, don't do what Zack did before his SATs. :eyes:

You'll do fine babe. I predict 1390.

7. fuck it
They aren't all they're cracked up to be. You will either know the material or you won't. I took mine on a Saturday morning with little sleep and did well. You will too.

Don't fucking sweat the SAT's.

8. take it from me
Don't overanalyze, and practice! Do a couple practice tests. Also you can take one later, so if you don't do well this time don't sweat it. Some people are naturally good at those types of questions (I got a 1490 with minimal preparation, but I don't consider myself too exceptional), and some need to work at it. Either way, don't make too big a deal of it.

12. Get drunk the night before.
Kills off the weak brain cells. Just do it early in the evening, so you get plenty of rest :)

I did this the night before the GREs (like an idiot), but still did pretty well! Best of luck to you! :hi:

13. Well...
...My German exchange-student friend was going home the same day as my ACTs.

We had a big party the night before.

The keg was in a tent we named "Keg Tent."

Suffice to say, I was still drunk when I took my ACTs.

I got a 32.

Not bad for a souse, eh?

16. Relax
And practice.
Also remember this rule: SAT sections are divided into easy, medium, and hard questions. What this means is: the first third of the questions in a section will be easy, then the second will be medium, then the third will be hard. So, in a section with 9 questions...
If question #2 looks obvious, it likely is. Pick the obvious answer.
If question 5 looks obvious, it may be. Try to work it out.
If question 8 looks obvious, likely it's a trick in wording or something. Look for the answer that looks un-obvious, or wrong, or weird, or whatever, and read the question again to see whether it makes sense after all.

18. Get drunk the night before
and then stagger in, without sleep, to take the test. I took my ACT's that way and made a 29.
